THE IDEA BEHIND THE "AFARI" Collection

Afari is the first collection from Atelier No. 28, combining traditional wax print elements with modern silhouettes. The shirts are made from high-quality remnant stock and have been refurbished in the heart of Ghana. The vibrant patterns of African garments served as inspiration for the handcrafted inserts, which give each shirt its distinctive look.

ORIGINS | INSPIRATION

The shirt is one of the oldest garments. A timeless companion that has been reinterpreted over centuries. This historical continuity makes it the ideal foundation for the Afari collection. The combination of classic shirt form and vibrant wax print details creates a connection between tradition, craftsmanship, and modern style.

FEATURES | PROCESSING

  • Each Afari shirt features handcrafted inserts made from original wax print fabric.
  • The inserts are located on the epaulets, the button placket, and the inside of the cuffs.
  • The shirts' design is deliberately consistent to allow the patterns and colors to stand out clearly.
  • The design is complemented by two breast pockets and two epaulets, which give the shirt structure and character.

MATERIALS

The shirts are made from 100% cotton. The wax print inserts are also made from pure cotton. The materials are carefully selected and responsibly processed. Future collections will integrate both recycled materials and newly produced, sustainable fabrics

– always with the aim of creating durable and high-quality fashion. -

Outlook on Upcoming Projects

We are consistently developing the Afari collection further. The goal is to expand "Afari" into a complete, self-contained collection comprising several pieces that can be worn as a full look.

All items are released in limited quantities to ensure exclusivity and quality.
